Database
A database is one or more large structured sets of persistent data, usually
associated with software to update and query the data.
Data Driven Website
Data driven website is one that acts as an interface to a database, retrieving
specific data for presentation to a specific user, and allowing for data entry
into the database.
Domain Name
A domain name (also called a Web address) is the unique name that identifies an
Internet site. It is used as an address for your Web site and is a unique identifier
of you or your company. An example would be yoursite.com To own a domain name, you
need to register it on the Internet. This paid service is offered by several websites,
who register your domain name. When you register a domain name, you are inserting
an entry into a database of all the domain names. Once you register your domain
name, you can point that domain name to your Hosting account.
Content Management System (CMS)
A content management system is a system used to manage the content of a Web site. The CMS allows a content manager, who may not know HTML, to manage the creation, modification, and removal of content from a Web site without needing the expertise of a Webmaster. The CMS compiles that information to update the Web site. The features of a CMS system vary, but most include Web-based publishing, format management, revision control, indexing, search, and retrieval.
Framework
A framework is a defined support structure in which another software project
can be organized and developed.
Hosting, also Server or Web Server
Hosting is used to refer to the housing of a web site, email or a domain. A computer
with an assigned an IP address, directly connected to the Internet.
Website Optimization
Website Optimization also known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) refers to optimizing a website to rank well in the search engines.
